Arina Nisanova is a fourth-year medical student at the University of California, Davis. She was born and raised in Moscow, Russia, and immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of 15. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles.

In medical school, Arina discovered her passion for ophthalmology and research. She is particularly interested in ocular oncology research, and her work has been supported by the Melanoma Research Foundation grant. Arina is also actively involved in extracurricular activities. She served as co-director of a student-run clinic, Nadezhda, that serves the post-Soviet community of Sacramento. Arina also served as the director of the Silent Auction and Wine Tasting Benefit and organized multiple fundraisers for the benefit of the UC Davis-affiliated student-run clinics. She plans to dedicate her career to ocular oncology and remain involved in community and global health projects. In her free time, Arina enjoys spending time with her large family, playing tennis, and traveling.
