When certain communities and clinics were especially hard-hit and lacked consistency in staffing, Mary Smith stepped up. Mary is a perfect example of staying focused and being self-directed. Due to the pandemic and an involuntary job change when her medical group merged with a larger organization, Mary was faced with professional uncertainty. Changes like these are stressful, but Mary remained calm, focused, humble, and able to comfort others while personally adjusting. She uniquely connected with her peers, giving them a sense of trust, stability, and hope. Mary dedicated time, skills, aid and support to clinics that were severely affected by the pandemic and the acquisition.
For Mary, nursing includes seeing and supporting others — patients, their families, and colleagues – with genuine love while carrying the profession in the center of her heart.
