Bella Lei, a ten-year-old pianist from Macau, is a student at Mannes School of Music Prep in New York. Praised by Sergei Babayan for playing “with so many colors and so intelligently already,” Bella has won top prizes at the Macau Invitation, Chopin International Youth, Ocean Music, and Apex International Piano Competitions. The Apex jury called her playing “ in a rare, golden-age style—nothing safe or artificial, just beautifully creative music making.” Outside of music, Bella enjoys reading, playing sports and spending time with her younger siblings.
