As an early-career nurse, Jennifer is just getting started, but her list of accomplishments is already impressively long. One of her superpowers is communication: She understands the power of connection in nurse-patient relationships and in nurse-to-nurse relationships—with those close connections, information is shared and built upon. She radiates positivity: Colleagues say she is an utter delight to work with, always proactive and empathetic.
When Covid-19 hit LA in 2020, Jennifer was one of the first nurses to volunteer to care for Covid-19 patients. As Covid-19 spread and the hospital filled, Jennifer stepped up to teach other nurses what she’d learned about treating patients who had the virus, and about how to put patients at ease even when everyone was frightened. She never stopped smiling even behind a mask.
In the years since, Jennifer has devoted herself to helping other nurses learn to communicate with colleagues and patients with empathy and kindness, showing them how to lead conversations even within very complex situations. She provided unit onboarding for all new hires and assisted in the New Graduate RN Residency Program especially when the cohort sizes increased to accommodate for the staffing need after Covid-19. Her mentorship has been instrumental in new nurses’ confidence and sense of belonging, which has reduced new-graduate turnover and increased patient satisfaction scores.
Jennifer understands the importance of education and the advancement of the nursing profession. She served as the Shared Leadership Council Education and Informatics House Wide Chair in 2024 to support education initiatives for nurses both new and experienced. She has also been a podium presenter at the Nursing Research Conference, Vizient Conference, and Transition to Practice Symposium. Jennifer is a brilliant collaborator and leader; she has an extraordinary impact on her patients and colleagues.
Jennifer has now advanced her professional role to become the Program Site Coordinator of the Cedars-Sinai New Graduate RN-Residency Program and a Caritas Coach® through the Watson Caring Science Institute. She has a passion for training and guiding the newest to the profession, and she hopes to spread the love of nursing to those she has the privilege to mentor.
