Michelle Safransky is a fourth-year medical student at Boston University School of Medicine. Before attending medical school, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Molecular and Cell Biology at UC Berkeley and is originally from Los Angeles, CA.

Michelle is currently involved in several research projects on campus, in both Alzheimer’s Disease and Traumatic Brain Injury Neurosurgery Outcomes. She is also heavily involved in volunteering on campus, working as the leader of the service branch of Socially Responsible Surgery, cuddling neonates in the NICU at Boston Medical Center, assessing surgical patients at Boston Medical Center for social determinants of health and providing them with information regarding their surgery and post-operative care, giving flu vaccines to Boston University students and faculty, and mentoring undergraduate students. Michelle also tutors other medical students on campus and is a leader of three student-run clubs at the medical school.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends, cooking new recipes, going for long walks, and going to various activities and events at Boston University’s Hillel campus. Michelle is currently applying to Emergency Medicine residency programs and excited for this big next step.
