Simms/Mann Family Scholarship at JVS Supports 10 Students Annually

In 2012, the Simms/Mann Family Foundation established the Simms/Mann Family Scholarship through the JVS SoCal Scholarship Program, which provides qualified Jewish students whose primary residence is in the Greater Los Angeles area with need-based financial aid to pursue higher education. The Simms/Mann Family Scholarship is allocated to students in the healthcare field who show an outstanding commitment to their studies and to future patient populations.

The Foundation is proud to announce that after an additional gift this year, the Simms/Mann Family Scholarship is now providing aid to 10 students annually.

The current scholars include:

  • Medical student at Albert Einstein College pursuing a career in cardiology and medical education 
  • Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) student at Johns Hopkins University with an interest in children and adolescents
  • Medical student at Touro University Nevada, College of Osteopathic Medicine – who is also an ordained rabbi
  • Medical student at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, pursuing a career as a neurologist and contributing to research in neurodegenerative disease.
  • Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) student with a specialty in Nurse Midwifery from Seattle University, following her childhood dream of delivering babies 
  • Medical student at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, preparing to apply for a pediatric residency, with interests in lifestyle medicine, nutrition, and public health. 
  • Medical student at the University of California, Davis with an interest in ocular oncology research
  • Medical student at The American Medical Program at Tel Aviv University who plans to apply for residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery
  • Medical student at Boston University School of Medicine, involved in several research projects in Alzheimer’s Disease and Traumatic Brain Injury Neurosurgery Outcomes
