We accelerate research and fund innovative programs that address the whole person—mind, body, spirit.

A letter from our founders:

The Simms/Mann Family Foundation and Institute were established to strategically fund educational programs and social services that promote well-being and economic self-sufficiency for all.

We approach giving through a holistic lens to address the needs of the whole person—mind, body, emotions, and spirit.

These fundamental human aspects are inseparable. Nurturing them all leads to a healthier and more productive life. And in turn, we discover how to better care for ourselves, our children, and our global interconnected community of human beings.

Growing up, our families instilled in us the value of altruism early on. It is now our privilege and a source of joy to give back to the community that has given us so much over the years. We believe that this spiritual reciprocity between donors and beneficiaries is what binds us together and keeps us all human.

The two of us view philanthropy as a creative process.

Vicki is the visionary of the Foundation’s ideas and projects, drawing from her career as a psychologist and now as a philanthropist, while Ron uses his legal and accounting background to ensure the sustainability of our projects. We consult with experts representing diverse perspectives across many cultures and disciplines.

Our giving is anchored in three core focus areas: education, health and wellness, and arts and culture, which mirror the aspects of mind, body, and spirit, and overlap in countless ways. Our holistic, multidisciplinary approach is infused across these three areas, with the ultimate goal of inspiring and preparing new generations to meet the challenges of the future: physical, psychological, and spiritual.

This approach that was unique when we began this journey more than 30 years ago is now flourishing, and the impact of our investments continues to grow. It has been a source of joy to see our holistic projects expand, and also build new initiatives, in ways we never imagined.

In closing, we hope to leave a legacy of transformative programs that serve the greater good by fostering wholeness in mind, body, spirit, and community.

This unwavering commitment inspires us to continually seek out innovative ways to elevate the health and well-being of our communities.
