Overview

The Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine (AIHM) is a global, interprofessional member organization that educates and trains clinicians in integrative health and medicine. AIHM embraces all global healing traditions to assure exemplary health care. Dr. Mimi Guarnieri, AIHM’s Founder and President, was one of the first integrative cardiologists in the United States. She has been recognized for her national leadership in Integrative Medicine by the Bravewell Collaborative.

The Simms/Mann Family Foundation was among the founding investors and supported AIHM by awarding scholarships to professionals participating in the Interprofessional Fellowship Program. This incredible program was the first of its kind, providing graduate-level training to clinicians across a wide range of professions.

Desired Impact

The Foundation supports multiple projects with an integrative and transdisciplinary approach, believing that the best healthcare comes from a deep understanding of the interconnection of mind, body, and spirit. The Foundation’s goal in supporting the Interprofessional Fellowship Program was to create a heightened understanding of integrative health and encourage its wider application in traditional health care settings.

The 2-year fellowship program immersed professionals in an innovative, interactive, and clinically focused curriculum that laid the foundation for integrated care. The program also taught professionals how to work collaboratively and effectively within an interprofessional team.
